Kelvin Free Show Poster

I am pleased and proud to work with my friend Kelvin Free, an artist who used his "disability" to his advantage. He is diagnosed with schizo-affective disorder, a form of schizophrenia. According to Kelvin, his disability gives him insight as an alternative version of reality that viewers of his art should pay attention to. He sees things and wants to share his insights with others. His vivid use of colour and symbolic imagery make for fascinating art. His goal is to get off welfare and support himself with his art making. I have supported him by documenting his work (paintings and prints) and by giving him computer support for grant applications and the like, including help with producing the show poster seen here. He just finished a very successful show: "Transcending Boundaries, Metaphors for the Schizophrenic Experience," selling at least eight pieces. Great work, Kelvin.
