The two books pictured here are work done over six months ago, but some friends have mentioned that they should be featured here. They are an initiative of Osu Children's Library Fund, run by Kathy Knowles from her home in River Heights in Winnipeg. She lived in Ghana and while there, started a library which has since evolved into a movement. I have contributed photography, book design and layout as well as building the OCLF website. The books use images from everyday life in Ghana to illustrate the alphabet and numbers. The books are available from McNally Robinson Booksellers for $10 each, with all proceeds going back to OCLF. The books were featured in McNally's latest newsletter, The Bookseller, after owner Holly McNally went to Ghana in November 2006 to witness the opening of the newest learning centre.
