Since 2004 I have gone to Haiti for a week with a group from my church. The group is organized by Dr. Pierre Plourde and is designed as a medical team. We have been going as teams of six or so to run a clinic in a poor neighbourhood of Port au Prince. Our contact in Haiti is Pasteur St. Hilaire of the El Shaddai Baptist Church, a friend Pierre met when he was doing an internship during his medical training. This year I did not go in person, but was certainly there in spirit, since many of the Haitians I met, I now consider dear friends.
Now to the matter of the photo, Daniel in the centre, is Pierre's 14-year-old and a second-time-member of the Haiti team. An avid soccer player, he raised some funds along with his eight-year-old sister, Nadine, and took soccer balls and two sets of uniforms to leave with the neighbourhood kids. Pierre asked me to design this poster as a thank you to those who contributed to the balls and jerseys.
